The latest version of AirGap (v3.7.0) brings support for BIP-85, Deterministic Entropy From BIP32 Keychains, Tezos Sapling (Edonet only), and cosmos memo addition.

BIP-85

BIP-85 brings solutions to the challenges of having way too many seeds/mnemonics and needing to back them all up securely. It defines a way to derive new mnemonics from a master mnemonic. The benefit of this is that you can have one master mnemonic that you back up properly, and then generate multiple new mnemonics out of it (eg. for different wallets). Without BIP85 you might end up with ten or more different mnemonics that all need backing up.

Beacon Network nodes have been moved to a new infrastructure and dApp developers should update to the latest release of the SDK.

In the last few days we saw an uptick of load on the Beacon infrastructure resulting in some users experiencing extended loading times of their requests with AirGap, Kukai and Galleon.

The Infrastructure Upgrade

To resolve the degraded performance the decision was made to move the Beacon Nodes to a new infrastructure. The migration was completed on Monday 21st of April at 20:00 CET. After the migration we saw huge improvements in the response time in our tests.

The Problem
A bit later, we received reports where some users that had an existing connection were no longer able to get their requests prompted in…

The Beacon documentation has been revamped to be more in-depth and provide a better developer onboarding experience.

Beacon has a new documentation hub, a type documentation and a new landing page to better educate about Beacon.

Documentation

The latest Beacon SDK update brings many visual improvements for end users.

One of Beacon’s main shortcomings was the clunky user interface that end users were confronted with in the dApp when they paired their wallet or triggered an operation.

With Beacon SDK v.2.0 the onboarding interface was vastly improved and now offers a selection list for the various Beacon-compatible wallets.

Gone are the blocking alerts, new are the toasts

The goal of Beacon SDK v.2.2.0 was to remove the blocking alerts that were triggered on various Beacon actions and introduce toasts that provide a smoother user experience and offer additional information.

Spire, the new name of the Beacon Extension. Better distinguishing and avoiding confusion between Beacon and Beacon Extension.

Since the launch of Beacon and Beacon Extension, confusion existed what the two were and what someone meant in a conversation when referencing “Beacon”.

To avoid that confusion, we decided to rename the Beacon Extension to Spire and clearly distinguish between Spire and Beacon.

But what is the difference between Beacon and Spire?

The second round of TzButton is live now! This game is one of the few out there which is controlled by a smart contract deployed on the Tezos blockchain. Let us explain how the game works, step by step.

Setting up Kukai

We recently have published TzButton with a guide for Beacon and Thanos made by AirGap. As there are many wallets out there we also made a guide for Kukai, which in our opinion, has a great and easy user interface!

For this guide, you will need to setup Kukai on https://wallet.kukai.app/. Follow this simple guide and you could soon be the next winner of the TzButton.

How to participate in the TzButton game using the Beacon Extension.

This guide is made to illustrate how to use Beacon to participate in this game. This is a step by step guide on how to transfer 0.2 Tez. through Beacon to participate in the TzButton game.

Participating with a Beacon compatible wallet

  1. Press the TzButton and wait for the options to show.

This is a short all-around guide on how to use AirGap for sending, receiving and delegating Tezos.

Requirements

You will need to have AirGap installed on two devices for this guide. We always advise you to use an old Smartphone, which would never be connected to the internet and your everyday Smartphone which of course is connected. Reason for this setup is security.

The offline device will be used for signing transactions and the online device for checking balances and initiating the transaction. At the end of the day, you will always need the two devices in order to perform…

Great news! The community has spoken and we have listened, AirGap now supports ERC-20 Tokens!

Dear crypto community, at AirGap we take user feedback very seriously, that is why we have now listed ERC-20 Tokens on our Wallet! Something many of you was waiting for became reality. There are many of such ERC- 20 contracts out there, we choose the top 100 and added them to our wallet.

What is an ERC-20 token?

The ease at which the ETH blockchain can be used to launch different contracts also caused the initial coin offering boom back in the days.

Instead of creating another blockchain from scratch, many developers decided to use the existing infrastructure available to…
